Scientific-Methodological Update Workshop

On February 16, the Pedagogical Directorate of Maputo promoted a scientific-methodological update aimed at the teaching staff of the Universidade Pedagógica. The event, which counted on the collaboration of specialists from the Key Experts group of the TIPOTE project, had as its main objective the modernization of pedagogical practices and adaptation to the new demands of contemporary education.

Innovation and Autonomous Learning

The opening session was delivered by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, José Castiano. In his address, the Vice-Rector highlighted that the current context of free access to information requires a constant reassessment of teaching dynamics. According to Castiano, the TIPOTE project aims to equip teachers with updated tools that enable not only more effective teaching, but also the promotion of students’ autonomous learning.

Focus on Inclusion and Technology
Under the motto "Towards Inclusive and Practice-oriented Teacher Education" (Rumo a uma formação de professores inclusiva e orientada para a prática em Moçambique), the workshop explored innovative methodologies with a focus on three strategic areas:

  • Digital: Integration of information technologies into the curriculum;
  • Living Lab: Practical experimentation in real-world contexts;
  • STEM: Strengthening the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

Session Dynamics

The update took place over February 16 and 17, with trainers divided into two working groups in order to cover the university’s eight faculties. This decentralization allowed for an approach more closely aligned with the specificities of each field of knowledge.

The event recorded active participation from 45 professionals, including 29 men and 16 women, marking an important step towards more inclusive and practice-oriented higher education in Mozambique.
